LinDev was founded in 2011 by a team of Open Source enthusiasts and professionals.
We are the "other" kind of Open Source company: We put all our resources into development (so much so that, as you can easily see, our marketing department is developers typing raw HTML into vi, with php for include statements), and we won't sell you a machine learning, AI-enabled, blockchain based, virtualized, cloud-based, Edge-backed disruptive freemium IoT device with a quantum processor just to be buzzword compliant. (We will, however, build just that in the extremely unlikely case that you can come up with a use case where that's actually what meets your needs best).
We can help you with many projects, including, but not limited to:
- Taking back control of your infrastructure - do you really want a potential competitor like Google in control of your email?
- Building customized Linux, Android and *BSD based operating systems for embedded devices, desktops and servers
- Save power in your IT infrastructure - one of our specialties is power efficient ARM based systems. We are building our own desktop systems, and working with Ampere Computing on the datacenter
- Development of applications running on Open Source systems
- Porting to new platforms - be it a new operating system or a new hardware architecture
- Updating and maintaining Open Source components in your products - there is no need to keep a device on a historic Linux kernel forever - but there are many reasons not to.
- Transitioning from Closed Source to Open Source, and keeping legacy applications working
- Open Sourcing your previously closed products - they're much more likely to be picked up by the community if you do more than just put a few files on your webserver!
- Development infrastructure - transitioning to modern revision control systems such as git and adding continuous integration, updating build systems
We're working closely with the Open Source community at large, in particular the OpenMandriva project.
Our team includes not only developers, but also a professional journalist and event manager - we can also help you get the word about your Open Source related products and projects out.
